New Music | Toro Y Moi - Campo + Fall Tour Dates

The adorable and quirky Chaz Bundick is back at his synthesizer and drum pad as Toro y Moi, bringing us a fresh new chillwave hit.

One of my favorite indie artists, Bundick ( who also makes music under the pseudonym Le Sins) is a grand master when it comes to beat making and remixing, finding the perfect balance between retro and new age sound. He usually steamrolls his albums with a great first single, building high anticipation for the compilation to come. This monday via his blog, the eletronic-pop artist unveiled a new single entitled "Campo."

It's laid-back and relaxed, it rolls along soothingly with Bundicks ethereal falsetto, fluid bass line and subtle congo drums.

In the past these lead singles have been up-beat tunes with catchy hooks i.e. 2010's "Still Sound" off the album Underneath the Pine, with its '70s vibe and funky bass. Then there was the groovy, head-bopper "Say That," the lead track off the 2013 album Anything in Return.

Still Sound

It's his videos that really get me; he shows off his personality- and dreamy baby face- with some tastily off-beat visuals. They flow so well with the style of his song and his classic yet peculiar steez. One of the best has to be "Say That," where he takes a solo trek to the woods to eerily loiter with a blank expression and bust a few dance moves that would make Carlton Banks and Napoleon Dynamite writhe with envy.

Say That

So it's pretty obvious that there is another album in the works (*crosses fingers*).  This weekend will begin his tour, which I am hoping to attend in October at the 9:30 Club to redeem my fandom after I missed seeing him in February earlier this year.

Check out his tour schedule and some more of my favorite songs below!
